News Letter 4

Hi everybody,

Can’t believe its been over two months since we last did a newsletter!!

One of our junior members Stevie has acquired a new boat which was given to him by the club for his consistent attendance, well done Stevie!!! It is a French pilot boat.

Our other junior member Michael has just brought a cabin cruiser called Misty of Falmouth, which was built by John Smith, who has generously donated the money to the club funds.

Our open day in august is fast approaching so please can the secretary have donations of quality items for the tombola, if each club member donates two items we should have a good amount so when you do your weekly shop throw in a couple of extras thanks!!!

As usual on our open days it’s the same people who get there at the crack of dawn to set up and the same people who put away, so if you can spare a few extra minutes we would be grateful.

We are thinking of having a for sale table in which donations to be offered to the club funds, any one interested see the secretary.

Our charity open day is in September and we decided that half the proceeds raised for this year will be for the precious lives appeal a great Cornish charity to build a hospice in Cornwall for children.

The secretary will contact the local papers and also Pirate FM as they are one of the major fundraisers for this appeal.

Just a quick giggle!!

The price for Tea and Coffee is still 20p it’s not free!!! As some members appear to get out of paying and yes we know where you live, we will not name names Pete and Les!!!!!!!!

The money for Tea’s and Coffee’s do provide the supplies and gas which Clive is quite happy to be responsible for. Biscuits and cakes would be nice!!!!!!!!!!

Peter Varney has donated some information regarding frequency’s, please click here to view it, I hope people will find this useful.

We had a lovely email from Camborne Pond Hoppers thanking us for attending their open day which was very enjoyable.

Peter Glasson’s wife June would like to be chief tea maker, Shirley the secretary seconds this so that’s official!!! Ha!Ha!!

Please remember to pick up your peg from the board, this stops any confusion on who’s on what frequency.

Thank you for all your support so far this year and lets hope we have good weather this summer.

Anything that you wish to be included in the next edition please see the secretary as long as it’s nice and cheerful.

News Letter 3

Hi there, this is the third edition of the newsletter for the boat club.

Firstly, we would like to welcome Ron Smith and Peter Fernie to the club and wish them happy sailing.

Peter is currently doing up a tug after it sunk to the bottom of the lake and was salvaged by another club member. Stevie had his maiden voyage with Orca and she sailed lovely. Clive has started another project, he is now doing a sailing sciff!!

As the deadline for last years members to renew their fees was until the end of January anyone now wanting to be a member has to now fill out a new membership form and submit it to either Jack Condy (treasurer) or Shirley Watson (secretary) along with £11 or £1 for junior members.

As we are on the subject of money! There will be a sign placed at Swanpool on each visit to state that:-

“For non members there is a charge

of £5 for the recovery of your boat,

this £5 will go to club funds”

Swanpool recently had its annual clean up and it was brought to our attention that some batteries were retrieved from the reeds. This is not aimed at the club but please be careful with litter and dispose of your batteries in the appropriate manner. We also have had a complaint from the general public regarding bad language, please be mindful that this is a public area.

Sorry if this has been a newsletter full of moans but these issues need to be addressed.

On a completely nicer and lighter note, Les and Clive have as you know been down to Swanpool in all weathers, and believe me it is in all weathers! They have apparently started a new club called ‘The Extreme Boating Club’, personally I think it should be called the ‘Utter Nutter Club’!!!! Either very mad or very dedicated, I will let you make your own mind up!

If there is anything else you would like to see in this newsletter please pass your comments on to someone in the club so I can put it is as this is your newsletter.

Some ideas:-

  • For Sales
  • Stories
  • New Builds
  • Any new members for the Utter Nutter Club, ha ha!!

Thank you for the support and guidance in my new role as secretary.

News Letter 1

Well, this is the first of hopefully many newsletters. This newsletter will be published every three months and distributed around to club members.

I would appreciate any input any ideas that you can give me.

Well firstly our open day went very well, plenty of people took an interest and a couple of membership forms were passed out.

The weather was kind most of the time with one heavy shower, but that didn't deter the crowds.

We have had a few youngsters taking an interest in the club which is very encouraging.

The next event planned is another very special open day for Marshall Janson of Redruth which is on the 13th September. Any prizes for the tombola would be good, please give them to either Julie Smith or Clive.

Ian is currently building a metre sail boat, we hope he isn't changing sides, Ha Ha!!!!

Clive has picked up a metre boat, which needs masts and rigging.

Our AGM is on the 7th October at Boslowick Inn, starting at 7pm-7.30pm.

Any other business please bring with you.

Any youngsters, or if you have ideas or queries, please pass on to an older member who will gladly forward it on.

The time is coming up for a night sail so any suggestions would be good, probably around the middle of October when the clocks alter. These are always very good and attract friends of club members.

This newsletter will be replacing the ponderings as it had been altered in many ways and lots of club members decided to start our own newsletter.

So hopefully this newsletter is to your liking any feedback would be much appreciated.
